Microsoft kills its Cortana App for Android and iPhone
Microsoft has decided to kill its Cortana app as announced by some of the officials. The announcement came in a couple of days back and it led to a lot of assumptions by technology gurus regarding how it happened and what might have been the possible reason behind Microsoft killing this app. It has been announced that the app wouldn’t be available for any operating system whether it is Android or iPhone started from 31st January 2020. It might not be applicable in every country out there but the majority of them will see the end of this app from the 31st of January next year.
This move hasn’t come across because of the fact that the app is a disappointment or any such reason. It is rather for some other reason that Microsoft has come to this term. A few years back, Microsoft wanted to integrate a voice assistant to all its apps like Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint & Microsoft Excel, etc. But due to circumstances and not knowing exactly how to go about things, it wasn’t able to do the job. Ironically, it went with Cortana app as an application for both the Android & iPhone operating system. Sadly, however, the competition from other apps out there in the same genre went better about things and Microsoft couldn’t compete with them at the same level and it showed as well with the number of downloads whether it was for an Android operating system or an iPhone operating system. They went on to face some terrible heat as well in the process as the app wasn’t perceived so well. It had a lot to do with the glitches which were there and users didn’t like any of it at all. This required a change and it triggered a change too which has led to the permanent deletion of this app across the globe.
Microsoft is going to try and use this app better by making it inbuilt voice assistance for all the major apps out there. The good thing with a voice assistance app is that no longer are you needed to type the whole thing out so that your operating system can understand your command. Now it will be done just through the assistance app which will be much faster and smoother as well since what you say through your mouth is in much better handling than what you type more often than not. The apps like Microsoft Office & Microsoft Excel are used very commonly by the users. So it becomes important to let the features be updated from time to time. This feature will allow for the betterment of use and furthermore, it is going to enhance the entire applications as a whole in the years to come. Just imagine using Microsoft Word with the help of a voice assistant which will type it out for you and probably perform all the functions as well. The most irritating part can be the formating in this kind of apps and with the help of a voice assistant, it will be a great sigh of relief for all of its users!
